CDL Delivery Supervisor

Department: Delivery
Location: Oklahoma City, OK

REPORTS TO: Delivery Manager

POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Exempt

GENERAL HOURS: Varies, Any Days/Hours of the Week

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Works under the direct supervision of the Delivery Coordinator to deliver products effectively and accurately to retail accounts. Responsible for the daily functions of assigned routes and delivery personnel. This position is considered a safety sensitive position as defined by Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention and Testing Program as allowed under the State of Oklahoma House Bill 2612 (aka “The Unity Bill”).

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES (this is not all-inclusive):

Coordinating

  • Properly staff all routes daily and document on daily assignment sheet.
  • Conduct monthly driver meetings.
  • Ensure the timely same day delivery of all orders.

Equipment

  • Clean and maintain assigned vehicle’s appearance each day.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance, fluid levels, and safety checks have been made daily.
  • Report all equipment problems or damage to management immediately upon discovery.
  • Report all accidents or unusual situations to management immediately upon discovery.

Supervisory

  • Assist Delivery Manager with training of all new hires to perform driver responsibilities.
  • Assist Delivery Manager with ongoing training programs for delivery personnel.
  • Perform daily ride-withs and complete evaluations at the end of each day.
  • Ensure all delivery personnel have been properly trained in job responsibilities, safety, and security procedures.
  • Implement training programs prescribed by the Delivery Manager by specified due date.
  • Submit ride-with program to the Delivery Manager one week prior to the first of each month.
  • Resolve and document complaints directed toward the drivers within 24 hours of the complaint.
  • Resolve problems or opportunities a driver has communicated about an account, salesperson, co-worker, etc. within five working days of first contact.
  • Ensure that all disciplinary action toward drivers has been acted upon and documented within 24 hours of the notice of violation.
  • Review drivers’ personal appearance and vehicle appearance daily.
  • Complete quality audits as part of all ride-with programs. Documentation on this program is to be documented and organized.
  • Complete required productivity tracking as prescribed by the Delivery Manager.

Delivery

  • Complete all fill-in responsibilities (including vacation, sickness, or any other special route needs) in a professional and timely manner.

General

  • Ensure proper and safe driving habits and observations of all laws and regulations have been adhered to at all times
  • Maintain a current and appropriate driver’s license.
  • Maintain appropriate dress and personal appearance standards. Report to work in proper uniform.
  • Assist Delivery Supervisors with enforcement of all Capital Distributing policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and cooperate with all departments of the company to further efficiencies and ensure the smooth operation of the company as a whole.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all customers, co-employees, and management.
  • Know, understand, and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote company goodwill in all areas, assist others and perform tasks as appropriate and/or necessary to help maintain the positive image of Capital Distributing in the market.
  • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid CDL driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • At least 1 year of Delivery experience preferred.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize.
  • Good computer and technical skills
  • Capable of strategic thinking and planning
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to drive, sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to twist and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to crawl and/or climb a ladder.
